Where to find films in the library

Most of the library's many videos are educational, with a few feature-length films (entertainment) available in the library.

The library has two streaming video databases available 24/7, as well as DVDs and VHS tapes available during business hours. A few other databases, such as Academic Search Complete, may have short news clips included in the search results, depending on the topic.

Ethnographic Video Online, Volume III This link opens in a new window
More than 660 streaming video titles that focus on indigenous perspectives and points of view. A comprehensive resource of documentaries, feature films and shorts made by and for indigenous people and communities. Primary content focus: Oceania, Australia, and New Zealand.

Library Search
Provides holdings information for the physical DVDs and VHS tapes in the HonCC Library as well as the UH System Libraries. Use the "HonCC Everything" search or the "All UH Libraries" search and limit the "Resource Type" in the left column to "Videos".

Swank Digital Campus provides a customizable academic streaming library of over 25,000 feature films, documentaries and foreign films from the largest movie studios, including Walt Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount, NBCUniversal, Columbia Pictures, Lions Gate, MGM, Miramax and many more.

The Henry Ku`ualoha Giugni Moving Image Archive digitizes videotapes & films about Hawaii that are unique, primary source material not widely available or commercially distributed.

Where to find images in the library

Images are a great resource to include in assignments like presentations, poster boards, or websites. Images can also be used as a source for a research paper.

The library subscribes to an image database, Image Quest, but we also provide links to other freely available image databases from the Internet.

High quality encyclopedia articles, videos, images, audios, with related Web links, magazines, newspapers/news feeds, atlas, statistics & biographical information.
Hawaii State Archives This link opens in a new window
Provides historic records of state government. These records date from the monarchy to the current legislative session, and also include the papers of individuals and organizations, photographs, maps, artifacts, rare books, 19th century newspapers.
UH Manoa Digital Collection This link opens in a new window
The Digital Archive Collections at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Library include historical and cultural material in digital form.
